It is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and recognized by the Portuguese Government as a health profession and the title of osteopath is protected by Law (Law 45/2003, of October 22, and Law 71/2013 , September 2nd).
It is a health therapy, based on in-depth knowledge of human anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, neuroanatomy and medical semiology, which simultaneously uses a holistic view.

An Osteopathy consultation lasts an average of 60 minutes, with the first consultation generally being longer than subsequent consultations.

To correct dysfunctions that may exist at the neuro-musculoskeletal, cranial, visceral and neurovegetative levels, through various techniques with the aim of improving physiological functions and/or the regulation of homeostasis that may be altered.
In the most common injuries: low back pain, back pain, neck pain, torticollis, sprains, tendinopathies, herniated discs, Carpal Tunnel Synd., shoulder pain, TMJ problems and muscle tension, as well as can help in cases of headaches, stress, constipation..
relating the various systems of the body, in order to identify the cause(s) of the problem, not just focusing on intervention on the symptoms that the person presents, and consequent elaboration of the osteopathic diagnosis that allows defining the therap
How long is the treatment, including the number of consultations and the interval between them?
It depends on the cause of the problem. A reassessment is carried out at each consultation, allowing the intervention to be readapted if necessary. There are cases resolved in one session. Chronic cases may require more sessions.
